How We’ve Empowered You

The mission of the Federation of Students is to serve, empower, and represent the undergraduate students of the University of Waterloo. This area captures a number of the ways we have been able to empower you, with a particular focus on our Campus Life services, student-run services, campus clubs and numerous volunteer opportunities.

How We've Empowered You

  • The Women’s Centre has worked this term to finalize the Voices 20th Anniversary Edition which will be launched in the Winter term.  They ran another successful Feminist Poetry Slam which had over 200 people in attendance as well as Love Your Body week and other weekly and on-off events which connected over 300 students with educational and informational tools for a variety of issues experienced by students
  • Working on drafting Waterloo’s sexual violence policy. Draft policy will be completed next term, and we will be looking for feedback on it.
  • Glow presented to the Canadian Blood Services Board of Directors meeting in Toronto and stated their continued opposition to having any policy that restricts Men who have sex with Men from giving blood. Glow also had a successful Drag Me to the Bomber show with over 250 people in attendance.  Coming Out Week had over 600 participants and had a first ever “Day of Support” for everyone on campus. In addition, Glow continued to advocate at the administrative level through the campus LGBTQQ committee advocating for continued expansion of gender neutral washrooms as well as ally training and international student support
