One Waterloo and WPIRG Host Racism Discussion Series
Join One Waterloo and WPIRG for Racism in the Media, the second installment of a three-part discussion series on racism on Wednesday, March 2.
Staff, faculty and students are invited to the discussion panel featuring Professor Rozena Maart and Professor Augie Fleras, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Multi-Purpose Room in the SLC. Following the panel discussion will be a facilitated break-out discussion for participants.
Professor Maart teaches in the English department at the University of Waterloo. Her work focuses on: Black Consciousness, Feminist Politics, Literature, Philosophy, Africana Existentialism and Empire, and Coloniality.
Professor Fleras teaches Sociology and Legal Studies at the University of Waterloo. His interests include: Race and Ethnic Relations, Multiculturalism, Indigenous Peoples’ Politics, Mass Media Communication, and Theorizing Social Problems.
The free event will be catered with vegan and vegetarian food provided by Princess Cafe. Doors will open 15 minutes in advance.
The last installment of the discussion series will take place March 22 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Multi-Purpose Room and focus on Racism on Campus.
